Ingredients
- 1/2 lb bacon strips, finely diced
- 1/2 sweet onion, finely diced
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp. dried parsley
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. chili powder (or chipotle powder for smoky flavor)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
4 tbsp. Old Forester® 86 Proof Bourbon
Directions
- Mix finely diced, uncooked bacon and onion in a bowl. (Slightly frozen bacon is easier to cut). Add ground beef/turkey, breadcrumbs, parsley, egg, chili/chipotle powder and salt. Stir.
- Roll mixture into two dozen 1-inch meatballs. Preheat oil in saucepan over medium heat, then add meatballs. Cook 10 minutes, turning occasionally so all sides cook evenly. Drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Combine barbecue sauce, Worcestershire, honey, water and Old Forester bourbon in saucepan. Whisk over medium heat until well blended. Add meatballs and simmer for 10 minutes.
